San Salvador Sunset
While in college for photography, I was lucky enough to take a class called Geology of the Bahamas. This class allowed me to travel down to a semi-remote island in the Bahamas called San Salvador Island. This island is also referred to as “Columbus Isle” as it’s thought to be the first place in the new world that Christopher Columbus saw land. Being a sparsely populated Caribbean island, it was not only a very amazing place to relax, but an amazing place to take some photos outside of class time.

Little Calf Pasture Highway
While on a recent trip, we drove along the remote Little Calf Pasture Highway in Virginia. It was dark and hard to see much, but as I’m always looking for things to take photos of, I noticed this little ranch with the moon above it! This is a two-shot composite, one of the ranch, and one of the moon for exposure difference. A tripod was of course used.

Mono Lake at Dawn
While on my September 2006 trip to California, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit the unique and spectacular Mono Lake which is located in California’s Eastern Sierra. In the mid 1900’s, the State of California diverted water in the Mono Basin area to the growing city of Los Angeles, which in turn lowered the water level of Mono Lake and allowed the limestone pillars, or “Tufa” to become visible. At 5:04 am, just before sunrise, I loaded my camera onto my tripod and took a silhouette photo of the Tufa.
